To Parents

Dear Hart Magnet Parents,

As you may know, school attendance is so important to your child's educational success!  The State of Connecticut reminds us that unless our students are ill, they should be attending school on a regular basis.  Please continue to communicate with your child's teacher should there be an attendance issue.  Thank you!

At Hart Magnet School, we implement the district curriculum with a focus on Science and Technology. Each grade level reflects a science theme so that students in Kindergarten are Zoologists, Grade1, Biologists, Grade 2, Botanists, Grade 3,  Geologists, Grade 4, Ecologists  and  Grade 5,  Engineers.

Dear Parents,

Summer is moving quickly! Please be sure your children are reading, visiting the websites below, and for Grades 1-5, working on their summer packets.  Please enjoy the rest of your summer!

OUR NEW PROJECT AT HART MAGNET IS THE SCHOOL YARD HABITAT!!!!  We have been selected by the US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE along with the GREENWICH AUDUBON to create and construct a school yard habitat that all students can enjoy and appreciate.  Students were introduced to several designs for the front and back of the school building.  Representatives of the US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE and GREENWICH AUDUBON shared their ideas with students as part of our College for Every Student (CFES) program.  Our guests shared information on their careers as scientists, environmentalists and park rangers.  They came from all parts of the country including Alaska and Puerto Rico.  In addition, we will continue to plan and co-ordinate with the MILL RIVER COLLABORATIVE.  We will keep you posted on this exciting project!

As you know, the State of Connecticut will be testing students in Grades Three, Four and Five on the Common Core State Standards.  These standards are rigorous and  are woven throughout the district curriculum.  We have held several presentations on what parents can do to assist and support their children at home. Please feel free to contact your child's teacher to see how you can further assist your child.  In addition, please visit the State of Connecticut website below.  The website will give you access to practice and training tests for SBAC and the  Fifth Grade CMT Science!
